City receives $580,000 in grant funding for housing unit

The City of Audubon received a $580,000 Iowa Economic Development Authority Community Development Block Grant to help create three new upper story housing units, according to Audubon City Clerk Janell Remsburg.
Remsburg said owner Matt Campbell purchased the property, which is above Sam’s Barber Shop, and wanted to do a similar project that he had done in another building in town.
“He’s the one that did the upper story renovations across the street from this property,” Remsburg said. “And Region XII (a council which assists local governments) I think knew of this project, knew that he wanted to do this project. So they contacted us, and we applied for this grant.”
