Western Iowa Needs More Housing as Top Businesses Expand Operations
August 13, 2024
Housing development opportunities in Western Iowa are growing as the region witnesses a surge in job opportunities due to significant business expansion projects across the seven counties. Companies like ConAgra Foods, John Deere, Pella Corp., Smithfield Farmland Corp., Midwest Industries, APC Inc. and more are establishing their base here. The region attracts established businesses and innovative startups, creating a continued need for more housing.
More Housing Will Help Fill Jobs
“We will be looking to add between 25-50 additional jobs in the future. Since January 2022, we have added 86 shop and 12 office positions. We are limited on candidates because of housing availability. With ample housing, I believe candidates from larger cities like Des Moines, Ankeny and Ames would be relocated to our area,” said Brett Meyer, Evapco Plant Manager, regarding the housing shortage. The need is here, and Western Iowa Advantage is ready to support developers with all the information they want on incentives, tax rebates, free or reduced cost land and a streamlined permitting process.
