Quality Machine of Iowa, Inc. Found Room for Expansion in Audubon

March 19, 2021

Quality Machine of Iowa, Inc. was founded by Bill Greene as Quality Machine, Inc. in Brooklyn Park, MN in 1968. His son, Tim Greene, now the owner and CEO, worked in the company as he was growing up. Tim took on a managerial role in 1983, and with the sudden passing of his father one year later, he took over the company at the age of 25.

Quality Machine made the move from Minnesota to Audubon, IA in 1994 because the City of Brooklyn Park would not allow them to add onto their existing facility due to zoning, plus skilled labor was scarce in the Minneapolis area. While the smaller production division in Minnesota was continued for support, Quality Machine found room to grow in a 45,000 square foot facility in Audubon where it added over $3 million of equipment and redesigned the production layout to be more efficient and more competitive globally.

“Audubon, IA is in the center of the country and has good people to choose from for a workforce,” Tim said. “Support from Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) at Iowa State University, and the City of Audubon is very helpful.”

“We are a very diversified manufacturer of metal parts,” Tim said. “By working closely with DMACC, we are honored to turn entry-level employees into high-level machinists over a period of time. Through working hard together, we build careers that will last a lifetime.”

Currently, Quality Machine of Iowa, Inc. has 55 full-time employees. Tim and his wife, Deda, work hard to create a positive work culture and a strong commitment to excellence. Because of his outstanding contributions, Tim was named the 2012 Iowa Small Business Person of the Year.

Quality Machine’s dedication to quality and respect is reflected in its core values:
